When a file is locked and Backblaze cannot read it, it skips over that file but does not declare "Victory" on the initial upload. After that, open up your Backblaze "Settings." and go to the "Issues" tab, and I expect you will see something like this: 17:00:33 TEMPORARY_FILE_BUSY E:\foo\bar\some_file_name So what you should do is connect both those drives for the next 6 or 7 hours, turn off all power savings modes, and let Backblaze run. When I look at some stats we have available to us internally, your D:\ drive still needs to upload 12 GBytes, and your E:\ drive still needs to upload 94 GBytes. If you think about it, it's kind of complicated because if you are always adding 1 small file per minute to your backup, are you ever really done with the "Initial Upload"? Anyway, what I tried to do is say is if you are within 1 GByte of totally backed up, then we "declare VICTORY" on the initial upload. Ok, so let me explain the difference between "Initial Upload" and "No longer initial, just maintaining" and what it takes to transition your backup from "Initial" to "No longer initial, just maintaining". If that is what it says, then there is no need to submit logs, I know what it is. Search for the word "VICTORY" all in capitals to find these messages. "NOT DECLARING VICTORY on initial upload - too much left" Here is a string I think you will find in your logs: And I think it's important to get to the bottom of this. We can fix anything, and explain why it occurred. The other half you would need a copy of the source code to understand, so don't worry too much about interpreting the logs, that's what Backblaze support (and myself) is for, we can help you. ANYBODY can read these logs, and about half of the lines will make perfect sense to anybody using a computer. If you can post all of the error lines (or samples) here I can tell you what is going wrong. One or two errors may or may not be fatal, but those are generally the most important lines. Ok, so in that log file, search for the word "ERROR" all in capitals. Make the window as wide as you possibly can, and turn off line wrapping and the formatting will make more sense. You can open that file in WordPad (not Notepad) on Windows, and TextEdit on the Mac. This log file rolls over to the next file (bztransmit02.log) in London Time (UTC/GMT) so that is around 5pm California time, your time will be different based on your timezone. There is one file inside that folder for each day of the month, so the most recent logs will be in the file named "bztransmit01.log" because today is May 1st. Macintosh: /Library/Backblaze.bzpkg/bzdata/bzlogs/bztransmit/ Windows: C:\ProgramData\Backblaze\bzdata\bzlogs\bztransmit\ If you aren't comfortable with this don't worry about it, but if you can, you can find your logs here: The final thing to check is your log files to see if there is anything interesting in there. It means I don't have to look at anything related to that, and I need to dig deeper related to the "Initial Backup" message. Your computer has connectivity, Backblaze is installed correctly, and you are communicating with the Backblaze datacenter JUST FINE. If you don't see that file, that's the problem, stop there and let me know in this thread! But if you manage to find that file (cat.jpg) then a whole amazing huge amount of stuff is working. See if you can find C:\Users\BV1717\animals\cat.jpg So you sign into that web page and go to "View/Restore Files". Next, sign into the Backblaze web login here: and see if these files have been backed up. Then make sure your backup is in "Continuously" schedule (the default), and let it run for at least 6 hours (don't let the computer go to sleep, so turn off all power savings modes). On Macintosh: /Users/BV1717/animals/dog.jpg On Macintosh: /Users/BV1717/animals/cat.jpg On Windows: C:\Users\BV1717\animals\dog.jpg On Windows: C:\Users\BV1717\animals\cat.jpg They can be your pictures, or things you find on the internet, but let's say the 2 pictures are named "cat.jpg" and "dog.jpg" and that means you might create these folders and files on your local laptop (the user "BV1717" is your local laptop login username): Ok, so what you should do right away is create a new folder somewhere with 2 pictures in it. The Zendesk ticket number should be a 6 digit number, something like: 665893. There are a couple of things I'd like you to check, and if you can post the Zendesk ticket number here where you talked with support I can check some more information.
